Guilty Pleasures at Disney World

Share post:

“Guilty Pleasure” in the dictionary is ‘something, such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard.’

There are a few things at Walt Disney World that constitute a listing on this article, and although I’m not overly proud of certain activities….they are overall about having fun!

There’s no real ranking to this, and it’s actually more of an interesting writing exercise than anything. In fact, my goal is to pull back the curtain a little bit and show you what are things that actually happen during a trip to Disney:)

DESSERT COURSE AT A BUFFET

Judge me if you want to, but there’s nothing better than starting out a buffet meal at the dessert bar! It makes everyone laugh and will break the ice for a fun dining experience. More sprinkles = The Better!

SELFIES WITH CHARACTERS

I really do love interacting with characters at theme parks! The stories, the magic and the way that they can bring lasting memories by just being themselves…it’s awesome!

That being said, I’ve got a guilty pleasure of getting selfies with as many characters as possible. It’s weird, but it’s also really fun!

MAKING CAST MEMBERS LAUGH

Okay, so there are different layers to this one and it’s important to distinguish that I’m just a big kid sometimes.

STAYING IN THE STORY

When I get off Tower of Terror, I usually end up walking up to the reservations desk (where #BellhopStitch is) and asking the cast member behind the counter:

  • “Can I get a replacement key to my room? I lost my original one”
  • “We had a great stay! Can I ask for a TripAdvisor review card?”
  • “Can you tell the guests in 1201 that playing Monopoly on vacation creates more yelling and screaming than it’s worth?”
  • “My air conditioning was broken….”

I’m also one to do anything that I can to make a cast member laugh by asking the most random questions…because they’re not expecting it.

STAY IN CHARACTER YOURSELF

We once went to Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party as Belle and Dr. Professor Gaston, PHD ESQ…and completely 100% without a doubt BROKE TIANA!

She asked a question that stumped me (but not Jill)….”So what did you major in University” and without hesitating…Jill said “Women’s Studies” because remember that Gaston is a character that is very…ummm…primeval? Worked perfectly and Tiana literally had to walk off-stage because she was laughing so hard that she started to cry!

#StillGotIt;)

BEING ENTHUSIASTIC ON RIDES

I’m not the obnoxious guy, but when you ride an attraction with me…you’ll remember it!

  • I’m a screamer on Tower of Terror
  • I’ve got poses for all the attraction on-ride photos, especially Rock n Rollercoaster!
  • I lipsync to every pre-show! It’s awesome!
  • At the top of Expedition Everest…I usually say something like “wow, that’s new!” lol

BEST OF THE REST

Back to the guilty pleasures that you can do on vacation at Walt Disney World, because these are definitely things that we do constantly!

  • Window Shop at Cherry Tree Lane AND the Art of Disney
  • Actually try to say “¡Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas!”
  • Push Buttons where we can, especially on the bridge at Kali River Rapids
  • Eating anything in the shape of Mickey, because you’re at Disney!
  • Watching cast members make candy (Main Street Confectionary, Goofy’s Candy Co)

Hope this was entertaining for you to read! If you’ve got a few guilty pleasures that you do during a Disney World vacation, be sure to share over at our Facebook Page!
