How To Save on Hotels in Orlando

After coming up with a list of ways to save money on booking a hotel room at Walt Disney World, it became evident that the goals and tips are actually good for so many more tourism destinations!

VISIT WHEN SCHOOL IS IN

When kids are at school, the prices for hotels are usually discounted or significantly reduced. There are things like marathons and cheerleading competitions to take note of, but generally it’s a good idea to plan a trip in the off-season.

AVOID HOLIDAYS UNLESS YOU CAN’T

If the kids are out of school, you’re going to pay more. This means that Christmas, Summer, Spring Break and any long-weekend…it’s going to cost you more.

KNOW YOUR NUMBERS

There are hotels that will charge more based on extra occupants, so read the fine print before you make the booking.

ALWAYS REACH OUT TO THE HOTEL DIRECTLY FIRST

When you book through Expedia or Hotels.com, the hotel has to split the revenue with them and it can be a substantial amount.

Because of this, when you reach out directly…there’s a chance that you can get a discount or a deal. Why not ask? The most that they can say is “no”.

IF NOT, CHECK WITH ONLINE RESELLERS

Expedia, Hotels.com and others will make sure that you’re in the right range for your budget. Make sure that you try the trick of opening up an “incognito” browser, because there are times that you’ll save a few percentage points.

CHECK THE DINING OPTIONS BEFORE YOU BOOK

Open up google maps and check the vicinity for restaurants. The last thing that you want to do is be at the beck and call of crazy expensive hotel food because there are no other options.

This has happened to me personally and is one of the main reasons why I put this on the list!

GOOD NEIGHBOUR HOTELS

Official vs “Neighbour” resorts will often provide extra perks, so knowing what those additional offerings may be the difference between staying on-property or off-property.

This is explained more in my article about the Holiday Inn Disney Springs, because the Disney Springs resorts are able to offer things that are exclusive to the hotels in the area.

TRY TO FIND DISCOUNTS

This is the last one, but it’s probably the best one. Are you searching for promo codes before putting in your credit card? This may save you a couple extra dollars because of a simple google search.
