Disney Photo Outfit Guide — What Not to Wear in Pictures

Let’s talk about being prepared for your Disney Vacation, before during and after!

It’s not just about smiling in your photos that you should take into consideration. The sheer number of photos that you can get in a day at Walt Disney World will make you want to heed this advice very carefully, especially when it’s coming from a place of experience and missed opportunities.

I’m a photographer by nature (and trade), so my goal is usually to be hiding behind the camera instead of in-front of it. That being said, there are a few tips that would benefit your entire family when you’re looking through your scrap book (or Facebook photo album) in the future.

DATED MERCHANDISE

Having one photo with a “Disney World Vacation 20xx” is fine, but remember that we like to re-use images in our day-to-day lives. Maybe it a photo that you want to get printed or share it on social media as a way of remembering a really great vacation.

Do you know what you don’t want to remember? How long ago your last vacation actually was! 😉

SUNGLASSES

This is a huge no-no, as wearing sunglasses actually will hinder the quality of the images.

How do I know? Because I’m the dork that didn’t look at the My Disney Experience app before walking away and didn’t notice that the flash reflected off my glasses.

BACKPACKS

Take your time and unload all your belongings right in front of the person taking the photo. Having your hands free will allow for you to have a memorable photo without having your Disney Bag be centrestage!

EARS

Okay, so this isn’t actually a “don’t wear” and more about a “check yo-self first”!

Why? Because Mickey Ears are very…sweaty and precise. The last thing you want to do is be looking at your photos and realize that you’ve got a couple strands of loose hair coming out of the front of your hat (because that looks just so awesome:p)

SWEAT STAINS

Yup, I’m going there! It’s hot in Disney World, so know that ahead of time and wear clothing that’s really good at masking sweat stains. The other option is to pick a pose that doesn’t draw attention to the puddle forming under your arms (and on your back because of the backpack you’ve been carrying for 4 hours in 100+ degree weather).

I’m a huge fan of having an over-shirt or new shirt that I can quickly switch into before getting a photo because why not?
