Let’s keep things simple and talk about what you really need for a day at Walt Disney World. After countless wardrobe changes in the Pirates of the Caribbean washrooms (yep, that’s a thing), here’s what I’ve learned needs to go in your park bag!
My golden rule of Disney Park bags is simple: Keep things organized and pack for your specific day. Each park will have different elements that you’ll want to focus on, which means that you’ll probably bring unique things.
- Magic Kingdom day: Leave space for souvenirs. Pack light.
- EPCOT day: Less souvenirs, more food. Pack as though you’re going on a hike, with snacks and a change of clothes.
- Animal Kingdom day: Pack to be outside, as most of the day will be spent going in search of air conditioning. Also, make sure to bring your rain gear, as you’re more likely to be caught in the weather.
- Hollywood Studios: Pack the lightest for this day, as you’re going from attraction to attraction and having to stash your bag. Don’t bring too many snacks, as it’s a smaller park and getting something as a pick-me-up is less than a 10-minute walk.
The Boring (But Super Important) Stuff

First up, your Photo ID. Want that celebratory drink in EPCOT? You’ll need proof you’re over 21! Plus, it’s a lifesaver if the fingerprint scanners decide to have an off day at the turnstiles. It’s also nice to share that you’re not old enough to remember seeing The Lion King in theatres…or at least try to.
Don’t forget your smartphone – obvious, right? But here’s the thing – even if you’re visiting from outside the USA, bring it! Just turn off that data and ride the free Disney Wi-Fi wave through the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.
Speaking of phones, let’s talk battery life. Trust me on this one – that magical Disney Wi-Fi will drain your battery faster than you can say “ooo a new Haunted Mansion loungefly.” We’re HUGE fans of FuelRods – do some research before your trip, or grab a portable battery pack to bring along.

Florida Sun Survival Kit
Look, you’re in Florida. Sunscreen isn’t a suggestion – it’s a necessity. Get the waterproof kind and reapply twice a day minimum. I’ve been that person with the lobster-red glow who can’t sit, walk, or move without wincing. Learn from my mistakes! Pro tip: Pack some aloe vera in your suitcase. Future you will thank past you if you get burned.
For your eyes, bring the cheap sunglasses! Learn from my expensive mistake of leaving my nice shades in the carry-on net on Expedition Everest (still hurts to think about it).
Don’t forget your chapstick or lip balm – because sunburned lips are definitely not magical.

The “Florida Weather is Crazy” Kit
Here’s the deal – it WILL rain in Florida. Not maybe, not kinda – it will rain and you will get wet. My money-saving hack? Hit up the dollar store before your trip and grab one poncho per person for every 3-4 days. A poncho in the parks will cost you about $13/adult – that’s like two Dole Whips worth of savings right there!
I’ve also started to do research into the ponchos that aren’t quite just plastic bags. There’s new technology that will bring an Arc’teryx level protection with a more affordable pricetag.
Bring an empty water bottle too – I’m obsessed with my Swell bottle because it keeps drinks cold for 24 hours! Insider tip: Starbucks locations give free water if you just ask nicely! Bonus hack: Bring some drink crystals (lemonade or iced tea) to make plain water more exciting.
The “Trust Me, You’ll Need These” Essentials

Pack an extra shirt – not just for the sweat (though let’s be real, that’s a big part of it) – having different shirts in your PhotoPass photos is actually genius! Plus, the number of outfit changes I’ve done in theme park bathrooms is… well, let’s just say I’m a pro now.
Let’s talk deodorant – because we’re all friends here. Florida + walking = reapplication needed. Don’t skip this one! Focus on the clear application, as no one likes stains.
Throw together a mini first aid kit with bandaids, Tylenol, and medical tape. Found this out the hard way when my shoes got SOAKED in a rainstorm and blessed me with the worst blister ever on day one of our trip.
And don’t forget Ziplock bags – toss a box in your luggage – they’re lifesavers! Perfect for keeping your phone dry on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or protecting your wallet during the regular Florida downpours.
Fun Stuff (Because That’s Why We’re Here!)
Bring an autograph book and Sharpie – even if character meets aren’t your thing, you might change your mind when you spot Mickey! Why a Sharpie specifically? Because it looks best in photos.
If you’re into pin trading, here’s my organization system: Four Ziplock bags – two for the parks (traders and already traded) and two for the hotel (backup traders and keepers). Simple but effective!
Don’t forget snacks – even with the Disney Dining Plan, hunger strikes at weird times. We love ordering snacks from Walmart.com & Amazon and having them ready at our hotel. There’s nothing worse than a hangry person in the happiest place on Earth!

One Last Thing…
Keep that wallet handy for tips & Dole Whips (priorities, right?). And if you’re visiting from Canada like me – maybe leave those coins at home. Disney Cast Members are super trained, but even they can’t help but giggle at our “monopoly money”! 😉
