Disney World FootGolf — Ultimate Family Sport Guide

Looking for a unique way to experience Walt Disney World’s natural beauty? FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course combines the precision of golf with the fun of soccer, creating an unforgettable family adventure.

A New Way to Play at Disney

Since Spring 2018, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course has transformed the traditional golf experience by introducing FootGolf, joining a growing movement of over 500 courses nationwide. This innovative sport takes its cue from that famous phrase NFL champions love to declare: “We’re going to DISNEY WORLD!”

The course weaves 18 FootGolf holes throughout Oak Trail’s scenic 9-hole traditional golf layout. Players kick regulation #5 soccer balls from special orange-marked tees toward 21-inch diameter holes, each marked with bright orange flags. The course ranges from quick 65-yard par 3s to challenging 207-yard par 5s, totaling 2,438 yards with a par of 69.

Natural Beauty Meets Sporty Fun

As you navigate the course, you’re not just playing a game – you’re immersed in Central Florida’s stunning wildlife sanctuary. Oak Trail participates in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, creating the perfect balance between recreation and nature conservation. Don’t be surprised to spot wild turkeys strutting across the fairway, deer grazing in the rough, or ospreys soaring overhead.

Perfect for Everyone

What makes FootGolf truly special is its accessibility. Whether you’re a soccer enthusiast or have never kicked a ball, the game welcomes players of all skill levels. As Bruce Gerlander, General Manager of Walt Disney World Golf Operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, explains: “We are extremely excited to bring this new concept to WDW Resort. This will allow non golfers to experience the beauty and tranquility of our Oak Trail course. Our resort and day guests will now be able to relax in nature while exercising or competing with friends.

With the abundance of deer, wild turkey and other wildlife, it is the perfect way to enjoy a couple of hours with friends and family. We will offer individual or foursome play as well as group events such as birthday parties, leagues, team building and competitive play.”

A typical 9-hole round takes about 90 minutes for a group of four, making it an ideal activity to fit into your Disney vacation schedule. The course cleverly integrates FootGolf players with traditional golfers, maintaining a smooth pace of play for everyone.

What to Bring & Wear

While the sport may be casual, there’s still a dress code to consider. Golf-appropriate attire is required, paired with indoor soccer shoes or running shoes. Want to embrace the full FootGolf spirit? Don traditional knee-length Argyle socks and a flat cap. Don’t worry about bringing equipment – you can either rent a regulation #5 soccer ball from the pro shop or bring your own.

Disney Resort Guest Benefits

Staying at a Disney Resort? Take advantage of complimentary taxi service to and from the course. The seamless transportation makes it easy to swap your morning theme park adventures for an afternoon on the links.

Planning Your Visit

FootGolf welcomes players daily from 11am onward. You can reserve your tee time by calling (407) WDW-GOLF (939-4653) or booking through Walt Disney World Golf’s official website. Whether you’re planning a casual family outing, birthday celebration, or corporate team-building event, the course accommodates groups of all sizes.

The American FootGolf League (AFGL) certifies the course, ensuring you’re playing on a facility that meets professional standards. While you’ll encounter traditional golf hazards and bunkers, the course design thoughtfully eliminates forced water carries, making it more approachable for newcomers.

More Than Just a Game

FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail offers more than just sport – it’s a chance to experience Disney magic from a fresh perspective. Where else can you practice your soccer skills while spotting armadillos and hawks, all within the happiest place on Earth? Or should we say, the “Happiest Place on TURF!”
