FootGolf at Walt Disney World Golf

FootGolf is taking it’s cue from that famous phrase that the MVP of the NFL’s championship game gets to say….”We’re going to DISNEY WORLD!”

FootGolf at Walt Disney World Golf

FootGolf made it’s debut at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, part of Walt Disney World® Golf operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management in Spring 2018, joining over 500 courses around the USA that offer the unique sport.

For those of you who may not have had an introduction to the sport of FootGolf, there are a few key parts that make it truly a family sport. During a round of FootGolf, players attempt to kick a soccer ball from the tee to the green, while trying to avoid the traditional hazards that a golf course is known for!

The 18 hole Oak Trail FootGolf Course will measure in at 2,438 yards and a par 69 for the course, and is certified by the American FootGolf League (AFGL), which is the governing body for FootGolf in the United States.

FUN FACTS ABOUT FOOTGOLF

  • FootGolf is a precision sport; a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf, but more closely related to golf.
  • Players kick a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened length holes with 21-inch diameter cups in as few shots as possible.
  • FootGolf rules are very similar to the rules of golf, and bunkers, hazards and golf course characteristics help to improve the challenge of the game. FootGolf and golf can be played alongside each other on the same course and both types of play can exist harmoniously together.
  • Since the game is played on a golf course, the basic uniform of FootGolf is golf apparel, with indoor or turf soccer shoes, or running shoes. Knee length Argyle socks are customary, but not necessary, as is the use of a Flat Cap.

FROM THE TEAM

“We are extremely excited to bring this new concept to WDW Resort. This will allow non golfers to experience the beauty and tranquility of our Oak Trail course. Our resort and day guests will now be able to relax in nature while exercising or competing with friends.

With the abundance of deer, wild turkey and other wildlife, it is the perfect way to enjoy a couple of hours with friends and family. We will offer individual or foursome play as well as group events such as birthday parties, leagues, team building and competitive play.”
