In the Magic Kingdom, Genie+ reservations can dramatically increase your ability to see more in less time through proper planning.
**Please note that attractions are added and subtracted from the Lightning Lane roster throughout the year depending on crowds, refurbishments and other events that are out of our control.**
WHAT IS LIGHTNING LANE & GENIE+?

Genie+ and Lightning Lane replaces the former FastPass+ system, a reservation system that allowed guests to reserve a spot in line up to 60 days in advance. This original program was included in the price of admission to a park.
The new system was introduced during the pandemic and is completely different.
This is important to know, as one was free and Genie+ is paid.
- Genie+ is the product, which allows you to choose arrival windows for attractions via the mobile app.
- Lightning Lane is the separate line at attraction, which allows you to bypass the majority of the standby line.
WHAT IS THE INDIVIDUAL LIGHTNING LANE?

Disney has decided that some attractions are in “higher demand”, which put dollar signs in their eyes.
The idea is that you can buy an individual ride on a popular attraction for a set price. You can buy up to 2 attractions a day and it’s available for guests with or without Genie+ service.

WHAT DIFFERENT WITH THE MAGIC KINGDOM PROGRAM?
The Magic Kingdom has two different levels of reservations, which includes Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane.
5 Lessons Learned

- The Magic Kingdom is the BEST park to get Disney Genie+ as it has the most attractions and thus the most “value”.
- You are able to Park Hop with your Genie+, which means that you can get attractions for the Magic Kingdom and then ‘change park’ to your next choice (like EPCOT) and look for afternoon/evening reservations.
- There are GOOD uses for the program and BAD uses for the program. It’s a variable that only you can decide, but keep in mind that there are attractions that are walk-ons after fireworks (like Little Mermaid), so it’s not worth using a reservation during the day.
- It’s best to rope drop Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, so have your first reservation be Haunted Mansion or Jungle Cruise, as then you can go directly there after Fantasyland.
- Don’t stress. This is a system that has bugs and is completely unpredictable. It’s not you…it’s Disney!
