3 Things to Know about Package Pick-Up at the Walt Disney World Resort
There are a few things that we dislike more than having to carry bags while on vacation, let alone expensive, bulky or heavy things!
Disney listened – thus we introduce ‘Package Pickup’
Let’s start with an official overview of the program, as most guests may not know that this service exists.
Pick up purchased merchandise as you exit the theme parks or enjoy complimentary delivery to your Resort hotel.
Theme park merchandise purchased during the day can be delivered to a designated location near the front entrance for convenient pick-up as you exit the park. To utilize this service, simply let the retail clerk know during time of purchase.
Resort Hotel Delivery
If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can arrange to have park souvenirs delivered to your hotel instead of carrying them around with you all day. Simply tell the retail clerk during the time of purchase and arrangements will be made quickly and easily.
Theme park purchases can also be shipped to your home via UPS or FedEx for an additional fee.
That may seem pretty straight forward, but there are three tips that we want to really focus on for this article:
- Complimentary Service
- Ship to front of the park, your Disney resort or home
- Pre-print your information on labels, as it’ll save you time
Say you buy a tee-shirt from The Emporium on Main Street, and don’t want to carry it with you the rest of the day. Maybe it’s raining outside (in Florida? Never!), or maybe you want to do your shopping in between your FastPass+ Reservations and your Advance Dining Reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table and don’t really want to bring too much with you up to the castle! Package Pick-up was meant for you!
Let’s look at the three tips in greater detail
1) Complimentary Service
Disney is very good at providing free experiences and services that you may never even notice, but this one goes above and beyond the regular delivery options. The fact that you can have a tee-shirt delivered from the point of sale on Main Street to the front of the park is cool, but having the opportunity to deliver that bag to your Disney Resort the next day is impressive. With no charge attached to two of the three options, and a small fee for the shipping to your home address…definitely, makes it appealing and a service that we’ve used a number of times.
2) Ship to the front of the park, your Disney resort or home.
Merchandise cast members are trained to offer the service as an add-on to your experience at the register, but as things come up (break schedules aka the “CDS rotation bump”, weather, etc) it’s something that you can definitely request. Keep an eye out on the time, as there is a cut-off time for the merchandise to be delivered to the resort for the next day…but if you’re at the resort for a number of days…as long as you get the bag before you leave, you’re good.
If you’re not staying on property, you can still use the service to deliver the package to the front of the park so you can pick it up before leaving.
Thinking about shipping items home to save on space in your luggage, definitely an option, however, may we suggest for any larger items, to search on the ‘Shop Disney Parks’ Mobile app? It’s a pretty nifty app and you can definitely use it to your advantage while you’re in the parks!
3) Pre-print your information on labels, as it’ll save you time
This is one of my favorite tips, as being prepared can definitely help! When you’re at the register and paying for your items, the cast member will bring out a Package Pickup slip and put it through the register to imprint the items, location, date and transaction number (just to be safe). Prior to this, you’ll have to put a wealth of information, including your Name, Home Address, Phone Number, Resort Name, Check-Out Date, and Room Number…and it takes a little bit of extra time to remember all that stuff!
We suggest that you print out a sheet of labels and bring them with you in your Backpack for when you’re in this situation. Cast Members are incredibly thankful that you’re aware of the process, as most guests take their time and can back up the lines in busier locations.
Package Pick-Up is a great service and we definitely encourage you to utilize it!
Pick up Locations at the Parks
Magic Kingdom Park
Package Pick-Up on Main Street, U.S.A. is located at Station Break underneath the Main Street Train Station.
Package Pick-Up and Shipping office is at the Entrance Plaza.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Package Pick-Up is at Oscar’s Super Service just inside the Main Entrance to the Park.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Package Pick-Up is at Garden Gate Gifts just inside the Main Entrance to the Park.
There is no Package Pick-Up Service, however, purchases may be shipped to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel or shipped via UPS or FedEx.
Pick up locations at the Resorts
The main Retail Shop is usually the pick-up location, however, it’s always worth asking a cast member when you check-in to point you in the right direction.
