Best VoicePlay Disney Songs

315views

If you’ve ever spent time going through Disney-Inspired music on YouTube, there’s a really good chance that you’ve stumbled upon the vocal group “VoicePlay”

Personally, I’ve been on the VoicePlay bandwagon for a few years now. I’m a former acapella singer myself (#TheMoreYouKnow), so when the group showed up on my radar through the 4th season of Sing-Off…I was hooked! The style that the guys bring to the stage resonates with my musical tastes, so sharing it with folks who like good music makes sense:)

So let’s look at the topic of conversation for this article:

The Best VoicePlay Disney Songs

There are countless options for this list, but I’m going to narrow it down to songs that I can’t get out of my head (and thus to share it with you). You’re Welcome!

aca-DISNEY | VoicePlay and Disney On Broadway

This is by far my favorite video that VoicePlay has ever produced.

Covers of:

  • Kiss the Girl (The Little Mermaid)
  • A Whole New World (Aladdin)
  • I Just Can’t Wait to be King (Lion King)
  • Seize the Day (The Newsies)
  • Arabian Nights (Aladdin)

It’s also fun to see the evolution of the group, from the musical skills, production value and the lineup itself.

ACA TOP 10 – DISNEY HEROES Feat. J. None

One of their 2017 videos is probably one of the best ‘sing-along’ versions that they’ve brought to their audience. The Disney Heroes lineup is worth the listen…and the accompanying toe-tapping!

Covers of:

  • Go the Distance (Hercules)
  • When will my Life Begin? (Tangled)
  • You’ll be in my Heart (Tarzan)
  • One Jump Ahead (Aladdin)
  • Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas)
  • Reflection (Mulan)
  • Part of your World (The Littler Mermaid)
  • How Far I’ll Go (Moana)
  • I Just can’t wait to be King (The Lion King)
  • Let it Go (Frozen)

Gotta be honest…part of the experience of watching this group on YouTube (or Live) is the personalities of the members! You get to see the comedic stylings of J. None and Earl, along with the vocal range of Eli (#XtinaForLife) and the flat out teamwork between Layne and Geoff!

MOANA MEDLEY | VoicePlay Feat. Rachel Potter

Consider the coconuts….The What?!

When Moana made it’s way into the zeitgeist, we knew that the covers were just around the corner.

And then VoicePlay released their version.

This song was continuously played throughout August and September on repeat when I was working on the website! Just put it on your playlist; you’ll thank me later!

“What’s This?” | The Nightmare Before Christmas | VoicePlay feat. J. None

Another version featuring J.None (will they just make it official?!?!), the Nightmare Before Christmas has gems from start to finish…and the arrangement pays awesome homage to the original feeling of the movie.

Plus…blacklight glow-in-the-dark facepaint!!

Grim Grinning Ghosts – VoicePlay A Cappella

Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite Disney attractions, to the extent that when I was working for the Mouse…I actually bought the Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion soundtrack in order to jam out to the Grim Grinning Ghosts cover!

When VoicePlay brought their spin to the classic, it just worked perfectly! #HurryBack

Once Upon a Dream – VoicePlay

A little darker than a typical VoicePlay cover, but the source material being the Maleficent (staring Angelina Jolie)…it makes sense.

Friend Like Me (VoicePlay)

This is part of the “Way Back” machine of VoicePlay, as it’s from 2012! That was a good year for Disney….with Brave, Wreck-It-Ralph AND the addition of the Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom at the Magic Kingdom!

VoicePlay Cruella de Vil | 101 Dalmatians

From the official ‘Disney’ Youtube Channel, the cover of Cruella de Vil brings you the theatrics of VP with the production value that only Disney can bring. Seriously…anything with Dalmatians is worth the watch.

ACA TOP 10 – Broadway

When you’re thinking about the Top 10 Broadway tunes, there’s gotta be some Disney involved! From Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, this is a catchy compilation of songs that I sing WAY too often haha!

Oh, and the voice crack from Earl at the 2:42 mark is worth the watch just by itself. His recovery is brilliant!

Wookiee For Christmas – Star Wars VoicePlay Cover

And finally, a little Star Wars Christmas song…which makes me giggle each time that I list to it! Solving the question that we ALL have:

What do you get a Wookie for Christmas (when he already has a comb)?

I’ll add more to this list as VoicePlay brings more content out! Enjoy the new music playlist;)
