My name is Dustin.

I’m from the west coast of Canada and have been living in Toronto for more than 15 years. During that time, I’ve run a walking tour company for a number of years before taking the leap to start a trip planning website about Disney & Universal.

As someone who worked for the company in Orlando and in Ontario, I was having friends and family reach out for ideas and advice – and realized that the amount of time spent on a topic could possibly be of help for more than my circle.

Introducing “Steps to Magic”

In 2016, the website was created.

The name “StepsToMagic.com” wasn’t the first choice of a name, but in the end – my goal is to provide the plans for folks to create a memorable vacation. It worked out and after hundreds of posts and dozens of trips – here we are.

The Difference I’m a storyteller by nature. I love taking photos and I absolutely love travelling to the parks. My partner Jill and I are able to look at things from a tour guide level, as we both have thousands of hours of guiding small groups in our hometown of Toronto.

We love to experience new things. We are not setting out to give the definitive resource on the parks, as it’s important to realize that every person will get something unique out of their vacation.

What I’m Not

Local to Orlando – Although I lived there for a time, we are based out of Toronto.

Foodie – We love trying new things, but with my partner being Vegetarian, my goal for dining is to find menus that match both our tastes. I do have opinions, but things change so much in “Theme Park Food” that it’s impossible to stay ahead of the information.

Adrenaline Junkie – I love Rock n Rollercoaster and Space Mountain, but I don’t do “drop” attractions and I’m not a huge fan of heights. I can enjoy a vacation at Universal without going on The Incredible Hulk Coaster, but I’ll always go on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure!

A Lover of Crowds – I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems and random spots on property to get a few moments to myself. Some people really love Main Street USA for parades and fireworks and there are folks who love the Halloween & Christmas Party experiences – it’s a little bit busy for me.
